Settled in Quartzsite |
George Yates and I got an early start with signs and balloons to mark the spot.
We were somewhat concerned about the number of people that would show up. They trickled in before the appointed hour and then flooded in. In the end there were about 50 - 55 people. Good numbers.
Bloggers and followers mingled and chatted. There were full timers, half timers, seasoned full timers and a few newbies (even some Xcapers which is Escapees new younger set group). There was even one guy who had started December 27th and thought he would get lots of information from bloggers. And I bet he did. He was there until the bitter end.

Toward the end of the event Doug discovered a slow leak in the universal and was concerned. Upon further investigation it wasn't bad at all. Monday morning we got up and drove up to Aguila, touted as the cantaloupe capital of the USA. No cantaloupes to be found but a nice drive. We then went back to the vendors in Quartzsite and bought an awning drop to shade the area under the awning.
Sunset over Quartzsite |
At this point, the universal was fine and we decided to pack up and return to Pilot Knob BLM near Yuma. We said good bye to our new friends and headed on down the road.
We reached Yuma and found our friends Bill and Irene. They have a prime spot but are leaving this morning. We didn't unhook and will move to their spot when they leave.
Two more weeks here while we decide what's next.
Thanks George - I stole some pictures as I cannot seem to get mine off my phone.
