MRS. WILKES DINING ROOM - Savannah

Yesterday we went to Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room in historic Savannah.  This place came with high recommendations from people we spoke to as well as the park office.  They only do lunch and they serve lunch boarding house style.  You line up on the sidewalk and are seated at tables of ten.  I was really looking forward to meeting strangers.

We met this couple from south of New Orleans in the line and arranged to sit with them.  The other lovely couple look happy don't they.

We are going to get together with the couple from New Orleans when we get to New Orleans sometime in the next couple of weeks.

The food was good, not great.  It was very ordinary but very plentiful.  As long as someone at your table kept eating, they kept bringing food.  We were seated with 6 college kids and so there was a lot of food consumed.

I think we gain weight just by looking at food. It's so much fun though.

I like places where they seat you with other people but then I don't know what to say. If someone else's starts a conversation I can usually participate, though. It's easier on trains where you can always ask where someone is headed.
