ESCAPEES RAINBOW PARK - Livingston, Texas

We are on the move again so I must keep up with my blogging.

We stayed 5 days at the Escapees park in Livingston, Texas.  The weather was mostly drizzly or grey and HUMID.  So humid.  70* F and 85% humidity. We are not used to humidity.  You can't do anything without getting sweaty.  I don't like that.

Livingston is the headquarters of our Escapees club.  There are many sections of the park including the CARE facility.  CARE is like an assisted living center except that the residents live in there own rigs.  They are provided meals and housekeeping.

The club headquarters buildings are also at Livingston.  We took the tour but we were not allowed to take pictures of most of it.  The tour explained the who, what and where of the club

This power pole is the orginal pole when there were just a couple of dozen sites.  And now there are 190 sites.

Doug took this picture while I was registering.  It is actually a private residence (there are many, some are huge on city sized lots) and the on-site lawyer.

It seems to us that some of the sites were being repaired due to the amount of rain they have had recently.  Our site was mostly dirt but was level and shady.

This park has social hour every day.  We attended one and found the residents and guests friendly and fun.  There is a large activity center for activities ;) as well as a beautiful clubhouse with a library, video lending library and tons of historical stuff.  There are two laundry rooms, very reasonably priced.

Out of curiosity we asked how much a lot in the park would go for.  There are only 3 at this time and they go for about $45,000!!!

The part of the town we found has a Walmart and most of the big box stores.

Other than the humidity (which we are told is quite normal), we liked the park.

We've had a lot of humidity in Florida. We aren't friends with humidity. Livingston is definitely different. It's not our favorite place. I can't imagine $45k for a lot but if people are willing to pay for it, I guess it's worth it to them.

We enjoyed spending the last three winters exploring Florida but the humidity is worse that it is back in Ontario Canada. Next year we are heading to the southwest to do our exploring and to get away from the humidity.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

It's about time.

On our third day of fulltiming, we landed in Livingston and became Texans. Their mail delivery system is amazing. We get excellent service.

When I was snow birding I spent about a week there each fall and spring. My primary complaint had nothing to do with the park itself--I wish the town's post office had better parking. Since I didn't use Escapee's mail I had to go to town to get mail but couldn't park once I got there. I sure do like Rainbow End's laundry facilities, though!
