This past weekend was our Victoria Day weekend. This is probably the busiest camping weekend of the season. It's like campers have waited all winter for camping to begin and our park was sold out.
We still have staffing issues. Doug worked 15 hours one day and 13 hours three other days. I worked 12 hours a day for 4 days. It was eat breakfast, go to work, maybe have a sandwich at the gatehouse, and work until bedtime. Sleep was even more difficult than usual as we were over-tired and incredibly stressed. BUT WE DID IT. The weekend is history now and we will work towards getting our staff all trained and able to look after things themselves. We started out thinking our salary was amazing. We thought, jeez all that money and we can just work or not. Rethink that one. But when we have a full staff, things will be better.
Our camp ground is in a Ponderosa Pine Forest. All the needles must be raked before we can rent a site. |
And then the pine needles are burned. These are only two piles of 10 piles burned. |
Things have settled down. It is so weird to have over 700 people in 120 sites one morning and by afternoon have 30 people in 10 sites. Crazy.

enjoy the peace and quiet cause you know 'they will be back'!
You two will need a vacation shortly!
Oh my heart is breaking to see so many pine needles. I can just visualize tons of pine needle baskets that could be made :(
Yeah "all that money" usually has a reason. Sure hope your time becomes more your own now.
