Canada Day in the Park

This weekend we celebrate Canada's birthday.  This is always the busiest camping weekend of the year and this was no exception.  It also seems to be the hottest weekend of the year.  No exception there.  Temperatures reached 40* C (104*F).

But come what may, it was time for the annual Canada Day parade.  Just like last year, at first it seemed like a bust.  Three children showed up and then.....

This year I made it a bike/pet parade.  Pets of several types participated.

This was the cutest..

Boomer - a Cavalier King Charles spaniel

But these we pretty cute too..

These were by far the smellest, most horrible, imagine - the woman wanted the children to pet them.  Yuck.

Our winners.

Isn't this little guy adorable.

Funny story.  At the end of the parade, the woman who volunteered to be the judge came and asked me for the prizes.  I handed her the bag that I thought had the prizes in it.  After she had gone, I discovered the bag with the prizes and gave them to the little girls in the picture.  As far as I can figure, the judge gave someone else a whole bag of Canada Day tattoos! that I had intended to distribute to all the participants.  Oh well.

Lovely header photo!

Your weather is waaaaay better than ours!!!

Oh dear, I wonder what the winner thought of all those tattoos. Did you see any one walking around looking like a big Canadian flag?

I'm sure the kids, and their parents, were glad to have you provide so much for them to do. Even if one kid did get all the tattoos. :)

glad the Canada Day event was a success..your names came up a few times yesterday as we celebrated Canada Day here at home instead of at Monck Park.

Happy Canada Day. With no internet I'm just a little late. The kids look so cute and sure seem to be having a great time. Too funny about all the tattoos.
