I used to tell my girls...

Remember well and bear in mind
A trusty friend is hard to find
So if you find one good and true
Trade not the old one for the new

I have made a lots of friends over the years and especially over the past three years.  There is room in my heart for all of them.

Yesterday I reconnected with my very best friend from elementary school.  We found each other on Facebook a couple of years ago and I had hoped that one day we would be able to reunite.

In the little town of Prince Rupert, in northern British Columbia, Corrine and I were in the same class every year until she was shipped off to boarding school and my family moved to the Vancouver area.  I have all our school pictures but unfortunately not with me.

Apparently we got together once in our 30's but I have very little memory of that.  Must have been one hellva party.

I nervously anticipated getting together with her and her husband (who apparently I met at said party).  Well, it was amazing.  Within minutes, after a few tears, we clicked.  Just like we had never been apart.  We talked and talked and talked.  There are a few mutual friends that we have been in touch with.  Others she knows and I did not.  Corrine and Wendy read this blog regularly.  (hey remember to post comments).

Corrine had shared this picture with me on Facebook.

I have this photo in our storage with me in it.  I did not graduate with these friends but because I had moved away just the year before I was invited to join them.  I am in contact with Corrine and Wendy but Arvida died a while back.

Corrine and her husband Ian, live quite a different life to ours.  They have homes on Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island and in Desert Springs in California.  Corrine's background was very different than mine but WOW! talk about BFF, best friends forever.

They came to the rig in Casa Grande with their dachshunds, Rudy and Scout, and were on their way to Tucson to pick up a new dachshund puppy, Fergus.  So glad they did.

Silly girls!  Hamming it up

I am sure this is just the beginning......

Well, we certainly know they are the best folks ever cause they like doxies. So much fun to catch up with old friends and find out that the friendship is still alive and well.

Oh what fun you all must have had. I know how you feel having a friend for so many years. My girlfriend, Joyce, and I have been best friends since middle school. Hope you two have many more great times together.

Old friends are great but so are new friends.

Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.
