Back in the U S of A - Birds of a Feather

As we left Quebec and entered the US in New York state, we felt elated to see the English language.  The border crossing was empty so we were pulled over for a routine inspection but it didn't happen.  I guess we were so relaxed with the whole thing, they knew we were without suspicion.

After a shopping trip to Walmart in Plattsburg, the GPS happily lead us to our dear friends Sandie and Jim, waiting in Whitehall, NY.  They had been there only an hour.  Strange that we had left them in Arizona, crossed the entire country of Canada and met up with them on the opposite side of the continent.

After we got set up, we went in search of FOOD.  Sandie and Jim's GPS lead us to FOOD but we soon learned we were in another state - Vermont.  Poultney, Vermont.

Jim asked a customer at a gas station where we could find good food and we were directed down the street.  We felt confident that the guy sending us there would be a good recommendation because he was huge.  Good food it was.

There was a great gift store next to the restaurant and the proprietor took our picture.

Parked in front of the gift shop was the prize winning pumpkin for the area.  This baby weighed in at
1,255 lbs.

By the way.  These pictures were taken on our new camera.  A word to the wise, do not let your camera get wet.  Our trusty Nikkon Coolpix got rained on in Montreal and we have replaced it with a fancier Coolpix.
Our nephew says that if we put the soggy camera in a container of rice with the lid on for a few days, it will dry out and be as good as new.  We'll see.

Sorry Sandie - I posted first.
