Two Stops Later - Wawa and Blind River

Before I get too far behind, let's bring you up to date.  We are hop skip and jumping across Ontario at a bloody great rate and are, quite honestly, exhausted.  Good to be in one place for a week.  Whew!

WAWA, ONTARIO
Yes, believe it or not that is the name.  Wawa is Ojibwa for "wild goose".  The town is full of them.

I went into the bank and said to the teller "So why Wawa?" she answered, "Because my husband got a teaching position here."  I think she thought I was insulting her.  Oops.

We stayed a couple of nights in quite a nice park, Wawa RV Park.  We joined Good Sams for $19.00 and saved $6.00 on our stay.  They had really interesting mushrooms in the park.  Not edible but interesting.

BLIND RIVER - Mountainview Camp
We have learned quite a few things since becoming full timers.  We have learned to avoid RV parks that call themselves "resorts".  That just means they are overpriced.  Well now we learned another.  In Ontario just because the road sign shows the symbol for "trailer" doesn't necessarily mean it's an RV Park.  Such is Mountainview Camp in Blind River, Ontario.  The sign also said "12 minutes" but the posted speed limit was 80k on the worst road.  It took half an hour.  We finally found it and a guy in camouflage clothes riding an ATV came out to greet us just as we were deciding this was not a place for us.  So we went.

Let's say, it was a beautiful place but.....there were 3 guys in camouflage - brothers in their mid-forties, there with their parents.  "Bin comin here from Ohio for 14 year".  "Wanna come and have a beer with us and play some dice?"  Oh boy, we're we in the wrong place.  The clubhouse was a garage with crates to sit on.  The site was incredible.  Apparently it's "Marion's place" but Marion had gone on a cruise.  There was only the one site.  Thanks Marion!

Don't walk ... speed away fast from that place. Or, grab a beer and play dice. I think you made the right choice.

I play dice but not for money and I don't like beer so those guys would not have liked me. I would not want to be on their "didn't like them" list. On the other hand, these guys remind me of some of my cousins. :)

We were in a park like that in Florida. I truly felt we were among the hillbillies. But they were quite friendly and nice. We just didn't fit it and left as soon as we could. Isn't this fun?
