This is a Special Post - A Very Special Friend

Only about ten months before I retired from the bank, I met a wonderful woman.  We clicked immediately.  We are kindred spirits.  From completely different backgrounds, growing up on the opposite side of the world.

I knew that I would miss her lots when we went on the road.  I am posting this because yesterday, in response to my "anniversary blog"  she emailed me this.  Oh man, does she have it right.

Hey Toni and Doug,

Congratulations!! Sometimes I wish I could just wind up and push off like you guys have done. I know you will say - if you try it you WILL be able to do it, but I do not think I am really ready yet. In the Hindu philosophy they say that anyone who can renounce what most people consider "essential" is extremely "enlightened". You and Doug seem to have taken some tough decisions to leave Graeme, and all the little things that kept you rooted to one spot and are moving through what is probably the best phase of your life. I admire you a lot for that. I know, my friend, that some of the choices have been painful and the judgement passed by some people has been harsh - but it is your life and life is far too short not to enjoy it to the fullest. Look, for example, how quickly the year has gone by. I look forward to reading more on your blog and of course chatting whenever we can.

Love you lots,

Sreedevi

I am so lucky to have a friend like this.  I love you Sreedevi.

She truly is a wonderful person to have that kind of insight. Aren't friends wonderful?
