HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US - One Year on the Road - Continued....

So where were we, oh yeah, best and worst.

There were a few memorable worst RV parks, not including Walmarts, which I must say some Walmart parking lots are great, food, groceries, some even have a convenient laundramat.

We stayed one night at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park which sits on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border.  Granted it was pouring rain and generally grey but that park is not all that it's cracked up to be.  There is an entrance fee and an extra fee for being out of province.  The trees are so high and close together that I don't think the sun would get through even it there were some.

Things We Were Told We Would Need but Don't

There are many things that people told us we would need:  a diesel truck; dualies; a bigger rig; solar panels; and a satellite dish.  We don't need any of them.  We can pull our perfectly sized rig just fine with our Ford 350 XL long box.  We have three batteries, an inverter, and a generator.  We have power wherever and whenever we want it.  As for tv - our antennae is great and seems to pull in stations almost anywhere.  If not, it's a treat when we do have it.

Changes We Have Made

I have an extremely talented handyman husband.  We have made literally dozens of changes to our rig.
Not one room has gone unchanged.  The wardrobe has been insulated with styrofoam, the bedding has been changed.  Closets have been converted and shelves added to them.  We have completely refurnished our living room.  No more bulky uncomfortable sofa bed.  One comfortable lazy boy instead of two too-small-for-us bucket chairs.  The bed of the truck has compartments for everything.  The basement was the first reno.  Parker, the dog, has a dog house in the basement where he sleeps at night.  It's his place and he loves it.

The Friends We Have Made

Ah, the friends we have made.  SKP's have a term "birds of a feather" and that is so appropriate.  Full-timer rv'ers have so much in common and we become fast friends.  We have made so many friends in the last year.  This is to you:  Jenna and Bruce, Carole and Jerry, Jan and Murt, Lori and Mike, Wayne and Judy that we met at Park Sierra;  Sheila and Ray, Judy and Terry that we met at Kofa and then later rallied with in Why; Joan and Ken, Mary, Lynn and Dave, Murphy and Gail, John and Anne that we met at Rover's Roost; Jeri and Terry, Janice and Jerry, Sandie and Jim, Delcie and Freddie, Karla and Eric, Joyce and Don, Marsha and Paul, Linda and Ed, Jan and Bill, and Lee that we met first at our graduation in Quartzsite and then some again in Yuma.

Thanks to our Friends Who Opened Their Homes/Properties to Us

We must not forget all the family and friends who have allowed us to park on their property and opened their homes to us in the last year:  Liz and Dave, Andrew and A'vee, Cynthia and Ross, Vera and Jim, and Brenda and Mark.

Thanks to our Family for Understanding

For the most part, our family understands that this is the life we have choosen.  This is the life that is perfect for us.  We are happy, be happy for us.  To:  Jason, Michelle, Ashleigh and Sophie; Charlette, Glenn, James and William; Nicole, Mike, Nico and Jakob;  Gayle and Vahan; Loreena and Chris and to Graeme who above all the rest understands the most even though he had the most at stake.

Last But Not Least

Special thanks to Mom and Dad, Mom Laird, Bill and Linda Laird and David and Elizabeth Laird.
