PATTERSON, California

Normally we do not travel on the I5 in California.  In fact we hadn't traveled this section since our tent camping days, over 10 years ago.  The roads are always in disrepair due to the heavy truck traffic and of course, the heavy truck traffic is another reason.

We can watch the I5 traffic from our window but because they are far and high, we don't hear it.

But this year we stopped at Patterson, California.  Patterson is the apricot capital of the world.

I researched RV parks this way and found Kit Fox RV park on Passport America.  The site said Passport America rate was only good Monday to Thursday.  They have changed that and the rate is good all the time. ($29.00)

Our site when we were not surrounded with big rigs.

The park is pretty good.  Pull through sites are nondescript and quite narrow. The facilities (those we have seen) are new and clean.  There is every possible fast food just down the street.

We went for an exploration drive and discovered that Patterson is a logistic center.  There are dozens of huge warehouses including an Amazon distribution center.  Others include CVS, Grainger and Restoration Furniture.

The city has a population of 28,000 and I estimate that the city is 80% new.  The Wiki pages shows that the population almost doubled between 2000 and 2010.  Buildings are all new, streets new and there are many parks and playgrounds.  The shopping area has Walmart and many other businesses.

A very interesting stop.

We, Bianca and Captain Jack, stop there overnight frequently. A good spot. And yes...so many apricot trees but sadly lots of orchards have given up...too many cheap apricots from elsewhere flooding the market. Shame for the farmers but maybe better for the aquafers...

We stopped at the Kit RV park many years ago. It was fairly new then and we were traveling with a couple of grandkids. The location was perfect and it worked for us.
