Before Deming we stopped at White Sands Memorial. At first we thought there was not parking available for RV's. Doug inquired and RV's are allowed to drive the 20 mile loop. I didn't think I would like it but again, I was wrong.
Doug took this from the top of a dune. That's our rig and that's me at the picnic table. |
The place is other worldly. That is sand! And very hard sand. There is no pavement under the sand. The sand is blinding.
I couldn't help myself. Carved this in the sand.
We pulled into the SKP park in Deming just before dinner. Doug was just putting the jacks down, I heard a familiar voice, and there was Marg who we met at Betty's in Abbeville.

And then we were in Arizona. Amazing how at home we feel in Arizona. After 20 stops in the last 3 months it is nice to not have to use the GPS anymore. We know our way.
Our first stop in Arizona is Casino del Sol in Tucson. This is our very favourite casino camping place. A beautiful parking lot, lots of room (there are about 30 rigs here tonight). The buffet in the casino is delicious.
Yesterday we had an adventure. Doug very seldom likes to have the truck washed at a car wash. The local one was advertising a $3.00 wash. We couldn't resist. We don't know where the ball was dropped but it turned out that we had the $18.00 works treatment. The truck looks incredible.
We will be here 5 days. We have a few things to do and we are meeting with up with some RVing friends and some former RVing friends.
Then on to Casa Grande.
