I had better blog about what we have been doing over the past few days before I get behind.
We visited with Graeme and Adrienne in their new place and then took them out to lunch. They were leaving on their honeymoon the next morning and had stuff to do. We checked into our hotel. The hotel was great.
Monday we visited our doctor. The doctor had recommended that we both lose about 25 lbs to get our blood pressure down. That was at the end of May. He was very pleased. I have lost just over 30 lbs and Doug almost 40 lbs. The doctor used words like "superb" and "excellent" and "couldn't be better" when reading us the result of our tests that were done last May. Our blood pressures were also superb.
Tuesday we took the ferry to Victoria, on Vancouver Island. We missed the ferry we wanted to be on by 2 cars!!! We had to wait. We had anticipated this wait and were prepared.
Doug and I have been on these ferry many times. Both Doug and I lived in Victoria in the past. Still it is a very enjoyable trip.
Someone is enjoying the ride. |
The ferries pass through what is referred to as the Inside Passage. It is relatively narrow in parts.
We were off to visit Doug's aunt Marjorie. Marjorie will be celebrating her 100th birthday while we are in the south. Marjorie is Doug's mother's sister. She is the eldest of 8 children. And one of the four remaining.
We hadn't seen Marjorie in about 15 years and were happy that her grandson Hans came along. Conveniently Hans lives 3 doors down from the nursing home Marjorie lives in. Marjorie is a little forgetful, but other than that is sound of body and mind.
We had a lovely visit and were off to catch the ferry back to the Mainland.
Strange coincidence. This time we were the last car to get on the ferry.
These ferries rarely cross with room to spare.
So today we are back in Merritt getting ready for departure in the morning.
Stay tuned.

That's neat that you were able to visit with his aunt before heading out. But there is nothing like the feeling of getting back on the road. Safe travels.
I sure enjoy reading your journal Toni...& you both look great!
Congratulations on the weight loss. Besides the lower BP, I bet you both feel like you have more energy.
I can't believe Aunt Marjorie will 100. She looks excellent.
Congratulations for losing the weight is definitely in order. You've both done a marvelous job. Looks like you've also had a great time doing some visiting before you take off. So, I'm thinking you probably are on the road this morning to new adventures. Safe travels.
