We reached the Escapee park in Deming about 3:00 in the afternoon. We have stayed there before and knew that it was a very bare bones kind of park but the rates have gone up. $20.32 is too much.
It is always windy in Deming, we expected that but what a day for weather. Winds were about 40 mph and tumbleweeds were flying across the interstate. No damage was incurred but it sure is scary when you can't do anything but drive over them. Then the rain started. The sky was black as night. We had torrential rain until just before Benson, when it snowed. Real snow, settling on the sides of the road and covering the hill tops.
We went into the Walmart in Benson and when we came out, this was the sky.
We drove south from Benson to Patagonia Lake State Park. We are staying on the edge the lake for two nights. We have electricity and as we speak, we have both our electric heaters running. There are people here in tents! brrrr.
The weather liar promises temperatures in the 70's for the rest of the week. Bring it on I say.

Brrrr is right. We have stayed in the SKP park in Deming. It's convenient and easy for on and off to the freeway. We also watch that area from Deming into Benson. The winds can be bad and low temperatures can bring ice. Glad the snow was minor and hopefully the temperature will increase enough that you won't need to run those electric heaters.
You must have been in the Walmart shortly afternoon, that's about the time the skies cleared for a while surprised I did not see you there.
The weather will improve now we looking forward to it as well
I didn't know it got that cold this time of year. What a white-knuckle drive y'all had. Glad you are safe. We would send you some of our warm Texas weather, but we are having that rain and high winds right now. Yuck!
We've gone from extreme heat to brr cold. I'm still looking for Fall. Stay warm.
For your sake, I hope the weather liar is telling the truth for a change.
