BRAUNIG LAKE RV, THE ALAMO, AND THE RIVER WALK

I like to share when we discover a gem.  Thanks to Sue Porter, we want to share a Passport American RV park in San Antonio.  Braunig Lake RV Resort.  For $23.50 a night, full hook ups, beautiful sites, store, the cheapest laundry ever and pretty easy to get to the Alamo and the River Walk.  They even have meals most nights for $8.00 each.

On our second day, we did the Alamo and the River Walk.

The River Walk was pretty deserted when we started out.  We took our time, sitting down from time to time.  Neither Doug or my knees are great.

It's very pretty.

At the end of the River Walk is a shopping mall.  We got a great deal on three pair of Crocs.  Buy 2 or more and get 40% of the total.

On the way back all the restaurants were open but the prices were outrageous.  We went to the food court in the shopping mall.

After the River Walk we did the Alamo.  You just come out of the food court, and half a block later, there it is.

The Alamo is not my cup of tea but Doug enjoyed it.  It was a little more interesting to me because Graeme's girlfriend, Adrienne is the great, great, great, (maybe one more) niece of William Barrett Travis, the leader of the Texans.

Hard to read but about 7 lines down, beginning with On February 23....

Yesterday, we did a day trip without the rig, south to Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico.  Doug was missing the ocean!

I wanted crab cakes.  I googled "best crab cakes in Corpus Christi" and got....

on Padre Island.  They did not lie.  Yummy.  I had crab cakes.  Doug had fried oysters.  We shared Portobello mushrooms stuffed with crab.

We got up bright and early this morning and headed out.   Speed limit of 80 mph on the I 10 sure gobbles up the gas.

We are now overnighting at Walmart in Fort Stockton, Texas.

You're in an area I really love. My father was from there and I love the history of it and all that it has to offer. The Riverwalk and the Alamo are super nice places to visit and Corpus is one of my favorite spots. Now those crabcakes look delicious so we'll have to keep Doc's in mind.

PS ... we've also stayed at the Walmart in Stockton and it wouldn't surprise me if we don't visit it again next spring.

We have been to the Alamo and river walk a few times os well as Corpus Christi and Rockport loved the area.
Even stayed at the Fort Stockton Walmart a couple times too.
We don't travel the 80mph 66 mph is more relaxing and we still make good time.
Travel safe and enjoy.

Ah, the Walmart in Fort Stockton, TX. One of the most popular RV parks in the country. :)

It's a new Walmart. At least since we were last here.
