What’s Going On

Often we get asked of our RVing life – “What do you do all day?”.  Well, we do lots.  Sometimes too much.

We have had a busy week.  We went to Quartzite on Wednesday to meet up with our RVing friends.  We normally park in Quartzsite for an entire two weeks but this year we just visited.  There was a pot-luck honouring our oldest member.  Lee has been on the road for more than 30 years.

There were 37 people at the pot-luck.  Great food, great fun.  Old friends and a few new ones.  We discovered that we are not longer the token Canadian couple.  We have been joined by a couple from Ottawa.

We are lucky enough to have a professional photographer in our group, Carol Dwyer.  She takes her business very seriously.  I must say we had so much fun getting ready for the group photo.  Doesn’t show in this picture.

A couple was wandering around way out in the desert when the strangest thing happened.  A budgie bird (parakeet) just landed on her shoulder.  A pretty little blue budgie.  It was obviously someone’s pet that had escaped.  But no one in our group was willing to adopt it.  They have posted notices all over Quartzsite but we doubt anyone will claim it.  Then what?

Quartzsite is a very small town (about 4,000) for most of the year but from November to February the population explodes to nearly 200,000.  This is just a small example of the rigs parked in the desert.  This is not an RV dealer just rigs parked in the desert.

After the pot-luck, we had our traditional gathering around the fire and this year we had a little hot air balloon to set off.   Fun, but where did the burnt out balloon fall?

Yesterday our friends Bob and Karen arrived in Yuma and wanted to go to dinner at Lin’s Buffet.  We had been twice already this season but it is just that good so we went again.  We were joined by friends Terry and Edi.

The waiter took our photo.  Sorry Karen is barely visible.

Today friends Jim and Sandie came back from Quartzsite to join us in the desert in Yuma.  We are expecting a few others to come down as well.

Tomorrow we are traveling into California to the small town of Holtsville for their annual Rib-Festival.  Should be fun.

There certainly is a lot to do. We definitely need a break after all the activity.

We did have fun didn't we? Good to be back down in Yuma. Not near as dusty here.

Just to let you know, we adopted the bird. We are calling her "Scapee". She seems a little hyper and won't climb on your finger. Hopefully she will calm down.
