A BAD DAY - But....we don't have many

You know what we say "A bad day on the road, is better than a good day working".

On Friday morning we left Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to head to Roanoke, Virginia.  It was to be a simple day, just one day closer to Savannah, Georgia.  For that reason we had decided to stay for free at Camping World.
We stopped at a rest stop and Doug discovered that we had a flat tire on the rig.  Well, he had practiced changing a flat but this was his first....hmmm.  The tire had been rubbing and had worn down to the steel.  No problem, he changed it there in the parking lot.

We changed our plans and decided to stay at Walmart in Roanoke, instead of Camping World and get the tire replaced and changed.

We arrived at about 6:00 pm and went to the service department.  The guy there said that the morning would be better and that they opened at 7:00 am.  At 8:10 am they had not yet opened.  Then Doug was informed that if we cannot fit in the service bay, they are not allowed to bring any tools outside.  Okay fine,
we buy a tire (quite reasonable for a Goodyear) and they mount it.  Doug is replacing it when he notices that the one beside it is all lumpy and misshapen.  Okay, fine, we replace that one too.  Doug also bought a new jack and that made me happy because even though the one we had already is hydraulic, it wasn't as strong.  He bought one capable of lifting 6 tons.

So off we go, two new tires, and a spare.

An couple of hours later, we are stopping for gas and lunch, when a person at the gas station says "You have a flat tire on your trailer".  Both of us immediately assumed it was one of the new tires.  Nope!  The other side!  So we pull around the corner by McDonalds and Doug changes another tire.  Practice makes perfect but this is ridiculous!

So off we go again.  No spare so it's pretty stressful.  Our day is not yet done.

We haven't gone far when Parker starts acting all antsy.  He has to go.  Of course, no exits for a while.  He really has to go.  We stop.  He goes.  We go.  He starts again.  We stop.  He goes.  He gets back in the truck and throws up.  We stop.

We think the reason Parker is not feeling well is because we treated him with fleas and tick drops the day before.  He is being lazy and depressed today but he is eating.

Aw well, we made it to our destination and we have to decide, do we go a little further tomorrow without a spare and find another helpful Walmart or do we take our chances with an independent dealer (if there is one) in this little town.

I hate days like that! Duchess gets stressed when we travel long distance. Sometimes our days are stop and go, stop and go.

I'm just grateful you guys didn't have a blow out and nobody got hurt. Sure hope Parker is feeling better now. Don't give him any more of that flea stuff.

As Sandie said "glad you didn't have a blow out."

Marsha keeps telling me to be positive in times like you are experiencing...ha!
