HOW TO MAKE A SAD DAY FUN

I am way behind on my blogs.  I have a new computer, a pretty red Acer Aspire.  My picture program is on the old computer and we haven't had time to transfer it to the new computer.

We have been busy getting the park ready.  We officially opened on Wednesday and had quite a few campers over the weekend.  A good start.  We have all been working hard and you can tell.  The park looks amazing.  Better than any past year.

I write this blog from the little town of Armstrong.  Yesterday was the memorial service for Doug's mom who passed away in late February.  The service was sad.  Many family members spoke, sharing their memories of a very special woman.  Again I can't post the many pictures I have on my camera so I will steal a great on from our niece who posted first.

Explanation of who is who.  Back row:  Doug's brother Bill and his wife, Linda; Elizabeth, Doug's brother David's wife; David; Doug and I; Jason and Graeme.  These rows are kind of mixed but Samantha, Bill and Linda's daughter; Jeff, David and Elizabeth's son and his wife Aleece;  our daughters Gayle, Charlette, and Nicole.  Nicole's son Jakob.  Front row David and Elizabeth's son, Andrew; Jeff and Aleece's sons, Maclean and Calum; Nicole's daughter Nico and Gayle's baby daughter, Edie.

It was a emotional and moving day but it was wonderful to have so many of our large family attend.   We were very proud of them all. Doug spoke, Gayle spoke and even Graeme spoke.  Daughter Gayle and her daughter came from Montreal and daughter Charlette came from St. John's, Newfoundland.

After the interment and memorial service we gathered at the family farm which our nephew bought from Doug's Mom several years ago.  The house has changed on the inside but the memories remain.

Bill's family joined our family and we went out to dinner at a Chinese buffet in the neighbouring town of Vernon.

So glad so many family members could join together in celebrating a lovely lady's life.

It's sad when family reunions only happen at funerals but better then than not at all. I suspect the Germans have a word for that sad/happy time as they are good at naming things like that.
