This is a very strange Canada Day in the park. Canada Day is actually on Tuesday so there was no long weekend. In the park on a long, weekend, campers are obligated to reserve Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. So when all the campers are in, they are in, and when they have to check on on Monday morning, they are all out. Easy to deal with.
This year because the actual day is a Tuesday, we have reservations on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday so the park is full continuously.
Although we have a full staff now, not all of them are available to work any time we need them. Doug is cleaning 40 sites all by himself today. And it is HOT.
Hopefully, he will be able to have a bit of a rest when he is finished cleaning sites and before he has to do other things.
Yesterday we had our Pet/Bike parade. It was threatening to rain and it did. But just for about 15 minutes. Spirits were not dampened. We had expected the RCMP cruiser to come and escort the kids around the park to the tune of O'Canada. They didn't make it (more important business to attend to) so I told the children that they had to sing. And sing they did, all the way.
They were all winners but here are our chosen winners.
