REFLECTIONS: Winter 2012 - 2013 - Part 1

With about 3 weeks until we return to Canada, I thought that we would reflect on the past 6 months.

October 19, 2013 - we "flew" down by way of Walmarts and Casinos.  Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Nevada.

Tulalip Casino, Tulalip, Washington
We were chased by the weather.  Cold and snow in Montana and a huge rain/sleet storm in Utah.  We popped out of the cold weather at Mesquite, Nevada and it was beautiful.

Our first real stop was Overton, Nevada where we stayed at the Wildlife Refuge. We were here the year before. Great place.

Pretty butterfly - Overton, NV

We left Overton on the 3rd of November and spend an overnight at Valley of Fire State Park, just down the road.
Valley of Fire - very beautiful park

We traveled to Quartzsite, Arizona to meet up with friends Terry and Jeri.  We were joined by Denise and made acquaintance with Barb.

Our new friends, Edi and Terry, who we met in the Walmart parking lot at Butte, Montana, found us at Quartzsite.  We refer to them as our "stalkers".  They also found us at Yuma and Dateland.

Surprise!  Buying our beloved Medjol dates at Dateland

Our next stop, Pilot Knob BLM just to the west of Yuma.  One of our favourite places.

That's us.  Pretty empty in November

Again we were visited by the stalkers, Terry and Edi as well as friends Terry and Judy.

We stayed at Pilot Knob until the 2nd of December and headed to the Escapee Park in Casa Grande.  Casa Grande is like home to us and we like to spend Christmas there with our many, many friends.

During our time in Casa Grande, I was thrilled to reunite with Corrine, my best friend from high school that I hadn't seen in more than 44 years.

We didn't want to have Christmas dinner in the Clubhouse with 100 people so we made an intimate Christmas dinner for six in friends Joan and Ken's "shed".

It does seem the time goes too fast during the winter months. We run, run, run. We eat, eat, eat and we visit, visit, visit. We also get to slow down at times and smell the roses or whatever might be around us.

Hard to believe you guys will be heading back shortly. But the Canadians here in the park will be heading back about the same time. Hope your trip home is very uneventful.
