HEADING NORTH - Stanton Crossing BLM

Friday morning we left Overton, Nevada heading north on Hwy 168 to Hwy 93 heading to Ely, Nevada.  The roads were excellent and very empty.  The weather was great until just before Ely.

Those skies don't look good
We had about 10 miles to go and we were high, 7300 feet.  The climb is slow and not all that noticeable.  We got to Ely and stayed at a truck stop behind the Shell Station.  We were all alone until dinnertime when several RV's and semi pulled in.  A huge parking lot and they all surround us!

Behind the Shell station, Ely, Nevada
The night was noisy and cold.  We were on the road by 6:45 am.

I had been researching a supposed BLM place north of Twin Falls, Idaho.  I finally found it on the GPS and we were on our way.  I didn't have much information to go on and was worried about whether we would find it and what it would be like.   Well, we found it easily and it is wonderful.

We are all alone in the wilderness.  Hwy 75 and Hwy 20.  Hwy 20 runs in front of us but I bet there is one car every 1/2 hour.  Weather is very spring like.  Certainly a change from the beginning of the week when we drove around in the truck to get cool.

Looks like a great spot. There are so many of them that are difficult to find. Certainly happy you're not getting any of that bad weather. Safe travels ... you're almost there.
