IN MEMORIAM - Betty Turner July 29, 1932 - March 13, 2012

Mom - 72nd birthday July 2004

With mixed feelings I have to report that my mother Betty died this morning.  She passed away in her sleep.   She had no pain.  She had been sick and getting very frail for about a month.

My feelings are mixed because my mother was taken from us by dementia several years ago.  She knew who we were but was not aware of much else.  She was unresponsive.  I know in my heart that she would not have wanted to continue to live in this way.

Christmas 2008
Mom was born in London England on July 29, 1932.  She lived most of the war in a bomb shelter.  She arrived in Canada after the war.   She married my father, Bill in 1950.  I was born in Vancouver in 1951 and my brother Steve was born in Prince Rupert in 1953.  She is survived by my father, my brother and I, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

This was the last picture we have of her being wheeled to the car by Graeme, Doug and Jason.  A sign of what was to come only three months later.

We will not be returning for a service as she has requested none.

                         I WILL MISS YOU MOM

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dave's Mom had Alzheimer's for many years before she passed so we know about the mixed feelings.

Toni, I send you love and hugs at this time. It's hard to lose our parents and yet we want to rejoice that they are finally free from the horrible life they have here. My Mom too, had dementia for a couple of years before she died.

Sorry for your loss. Dementia is a terrible thing robbing us from loved ones long before the body gives out. Lots of hugs.

We're so sorry for your loss. You are right your mother would have wanted to be remembered as she once was and not as she was currently living. Funerals and memorial services aren't as popular as they once were. It's the memories inside that will always remain.

Hugs!!

So very sorry for your loss...one of the reasons we are living this lifestyle is my mom's passing back in 2003, she died with many of her dreams and I promised her that would not happen to me...

Please know that my heart goes out to you, even with her disease, it is still hard to imagine life without your mom...no matter what your age.
