A FAMILY FAVOURITE

I could bore you with tales of work and weather or whine about waiting to leave but no, I won't.  Today I will share with you a family favourite.  TURTLES - no not those......
 these silly........

except this is our family recipe.   The first thing they ask when I mention Christmas baking is "Are you going to make turtles this year?"

So my gift to you this Christmas (well there may be more) is this.  You will notice there is no baking required.

Chocolate Pecan Delights - Turtles 'cept better.

600 grams chocolate chips (dark or milk whichever you prefer)
1/4 cup margarine
1 - 300 m. sweetened condensed milk
pinch of salt
2 cups chopped pecans (I use walnuts for this part, they are way cheaper)
2 tsps vanilla
pecans for the tops

Combine chips, margarine, sweetened condensed milk and salt in a 2 quart glass bowl.   Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stir, 2 more minutes, stir.  Stir until the chips are melted and mixture is smooth.  Stir in pecans/walnuts and vanilla.  Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper/plastic wrapped cookie sheets. (Plates or whatever, you need a few).  Top with pecan halves.  Chill in the fridge.

Warning:  if you make these before Christmas, be prepared to make them again and again.  They disappear.  hmmm

Those sound soooo good. I just might break down and make some of those. Thanks for sharing the recipe with us. I especially like the idea that I don't have to light the oven.
