WARNING - LOTS OF SNOW PICTURES - Brrrr!

On Wednesday at 4:00 we had a phone call from Doug's brother Bill who said it would be good to come and visit their mother in Salmon Arm.  As there was still a couple of hours of daylight, we thought we would go immediately.  Of course, we were not taking the house as we knew we would encounter SNOW.  We were packed and ready to go in 20 minutes.

There was lots of snow at the Coquihalla summit.  We know this road very well so were prepared.

What you can't see in the Snow Shed on the way back photo is that just on the inside, there is a broken down semi just setting up his flares.  Luckily we were in the inside lane.  There would be no way we could have stopped.

The Coquihalla Hwy. used to be a toll highway.  There are no stops between Hope and Merritt.  The next photo is at the only washroom open during the winter months.

When you gotta go, you gotta go.  Brrrrr!

We made it to Doug's brother David's house.  The plan was that we would all drive over to Salmon Arm together but they had other plans.  We left bright and early at 7:00 am.

These are a few more pictures of ice and snow that might make you chilly.

The little area called Harmon on the way to the house.

Notice the ducks on the only part of the lake that isn't frozen.  The house in the background belongs to a rich doctor friend of theirs.

The snow bank on the side of the highway.  Notice the telephone pole peaking out.

Doug was so anxious to get out of the snow, we made the return trip in 4 hours and 16 minutes,  a trip that normally takes 4 hours and 59 minutes in good weather.  Yeah, he was really pushing it.  And after that we went to a hockey game (See next post)

How is Doug's mom doing?

Yes ... I'm freezing now. If the hot tub was working, I'd be in it!
